What are fascias?
The long wooden or uPVC board behind your gutters
When you look up at the eaves of your property, you’ll see that your guttering is mounted on a series of long boards that run right around the building. These are fascia boards. The fascia boards are connected to the rafters of your building and form a barrier against water getting into your loft space and causing issues with damp.
What are soffits?
Connecting the fascia boards to the wall of your property
Underneath the fascia boards on your property there is likely to be a second board at right angles to them, connecting the edge of the fascia to the brickwork or masonry of the walls. These boards are the soffits. As with the fascia boards, soffits are an integral part of your property’s defence against water penetrating the fabric of the building.
